Not very eventful today. Just a straightforward run down from Darwin to Katherine. Saw all the sights on the way up. By the way, gave wrong information regarding Crocodile Dundee. The sign I read at Adelaide River was ambiguous. When we stopped there for breakfast this morning there was another sign which was clearer. It said Adelaide River is the home of Charlie the Buffalo - star of Crocodile Dundee 1 and 2. And sure enough, in an enclosure with another couple of buffalo is Charlie. He is quite short, but very thick in the body, and he has this enormous spread of horns. If I spread my arms straight out wide from my sides, that is about the spread of his horns - certainly no smaller. Also, the name of the ship I could not remember yesterday is the USS Denver.
After settling into the motel (we are at the same one we stayed in last time) went out again this afternoon to Edith Falls. Light was much better in the afternoon, coming onto the falls instead of from behind them . Got some pics and headed back into Katherine. Very heavy thunderclouds about and thunder and lightning here tonight but no rain yet. Will have to check road conditions tomorrow (and petrol availability) before we move out for Kununurra. Don't think weather conditions (cloud, etc.) will allow any further pictures of Katherine Gorge (Nitmiluk). If weather and light OK, was thinking of taking helicopter flight over the area tomorrow. If not OK, then waste of money. Have to wait and see.
Raining now. Hope wet has not caught up with us and that we don't get flooded in.
