Possibly born Alfred James Thomas PORTER at WARRNAMBOOL Vic in 1869 to James Thomas PORTER and Elizabeth KELSO(N) (Vic BDM 1869/25684). I recall being told years ago by Veronica Mary ROBINS nee GOLDEN that PORTER was his real name, not WILLIAMS. Whether that is true, and why he might have used the name Denis WILLIAMS, I don't know but no birth record can be found for a Denis WILLIAMS with father James WILLIAMS and mother Kate Elizabeth KELSO (from NSW BDM marriage record 15775/1914)
