Some researchers refer to this marriage as being "by banns with the consent of Jane Stiles". Although Jane STILES' consent is recorded on NSW BDM marriage record 156/1830 (as Ann was only 16 years of age) I have so far been unable to find a copy of the banns themselves. Additionally, Ann's birth record shows her mother's name as Ann STYLES, although the birth records for her sisters Lucy and Charlotte show their mother's name as Jane STILES. Also, one of the witnesses to Ann's and Richard's wedding was Charlotte HARPER, the married name of Ann's sister Charlotte STILES.
