Narrative

Johanna DWYER arrived with her brother Daniel at MORETON BAY in the vessel Shackamaxon on 25 November 1859 (Master: Captain Teulon; Surgeon-superintendent: Dr Graham; Departed Liverpool: 6 August). Johanna, a domestic servant, was 20 years of age and Daniel, a labourer, was 25. They were both from BOHERLAHAN, County Tipperary, both were Roman Catholic, and they could both read. Their parents names were Daniel DWYER and Johannah (or Judith, or Julia, or Mary) BRIEN. Both Johanna and Daniel were remittance immigrants and had the cost of their passage contributed to by their sister Catherine, who was already in Australia and living in Brisbane.

The marriage is also recorded in the register of St Mary's IPSWICH Qld between James KILDEY, a bachelor aged 23 born in MAITLAND Port Stephens and Johanna DWIRE, a spinster born in Co Tipperary, Ireland. James' occupation was stock keeper at Corindale Station. His parents were Owen KILDEY and Sabana EGAN. Johanna's occupation was domestic servant at Corindale Station and her parents were Daniel DWIRE and Julia BRIEN. The marriage was celebrated by Fr John CANI and the witnesses were James MEEHAN and Catherine DONOHOE.
