Robins/Harper Family Tree

Owen KILDEY (aka KILDAY, KILDRY, GILDEA, GILDAY, GILDARE) arrived in Sydney on the convict transport Medina (Robert Brown, Master; John Rodmell, Surgeon; Passage, 180 days) in 1823. This vessel left Cork on 5 September 1823 with 180 male convicts embarked and arrived in Sydney on 29 December the same year. Owen had been sentenced to 7 years transportation at the Spring Assizes in County Sligo for housebreaking and was assigned to a Mr G L W Baldwin (?) of Newcastle NSW. His occupation was given as Reaper. He was granted a Ticket of Leave in 1828 (No 28/611) and was granted a Certificate of Freedom (30/469) in 1830. His trade or calling was given as Labourer, his native place was stated as County Sligo and he was described as Height: 5'5½"; Complexion: Sallow; Hair: Dark Brown; Eyes: Hazel. At the time of the 1841 census he was living at Boatfall in the Hunter Valley (near present day Clarence Town) and there were three adults (two males, one female) and six children under 14 (four males, two females) living in his dwelling. I have been able to account for only three of the male children: his son Martin born 1832, his son Owen born 1835 and his son James born 1839. I do not know at this stage who the other adult male was, nor the other male and two female children under fourteen.
