Elizabeth Johanna STUCKEY nee GOLDEN was a midwife, trained at St Margaret's Hospital SYDNEY. She was registered to practice midwifery for the years 1931 to 1945, and again from 1951 to 1953. Her profession in the electoral rolls for the relevant years was shown as "Nurse" or "Matron". She lived variously at Mosman, Rockdale, Narellan and Wagga Wagga, where she died in 1981. It was said in the family that with her husband (Josiah) Cecil Clarence STUCKEY, who was thought to be a Doctor, they at one stage owned the property Gledswood at Narellan and ran it as a nursing home, however that appears not to be the case. There is no record of Gledswood ever being run as a nursing home and (J) C C STUCKEY was a gardener at Gledswood, living and working there for most of his life and ultimately dying there at a very young age (34 years) after a long illness.

Further research has revealed that it was not the Gledswood historic homestead where a private hospital was conducted, but the historic bungalow “Ben Linden” at Narellan. This cottage was owned by Elizabeth Johanna STUCKEY and run, with her daughter Jean Treasa STUCKEY, as a private hospital, private maternity hospital and private convalescent home from the mid-1940s until Jean Treasa STUCKEY left to go to the UK in 1953.
